My Home Page

theApologetic on Facebook

Apologetics comes from the Greek word “apologia” and refers to a logical and reasoned defense; the kind expected in a court of law.  Today, more than ever, a defense is needed to counter the countless attacks on reason, logic, science, history, the Bible, and more.  From liberal and conservative biases, to cult and counter-societal revolutions, to collegiate and academic distortions, to media misrepresentations, historical, cultural, and scientific revisionism plays a dominant role in much of the public square today.  Among others, this site is dedicated to exposing these attacks as fraudulent and providing evidences contrary to popular opinion.

Much of what this site will cover is a direct refutation to the anti-science being taught in the college and public school system.  As a college student, I am on the frontline of the attack almost daily and find it necessary to consistently educate myself and others by always remaining skeptical and asking, “is that so?”  Needless to say my teachers and professors do not appreciate my questioning nature as much of their curriculum is centered around indoctrination rather than education (as I will demonstrate).  Below is a list of the main area’s I will be covering in this blog however I plan to cover much more.  Please don’t get excited if you find a page of just links!  The site is growing everyday and sometimes the link will provide more information than I can write.  Please subscribe to our site on the right hand site to stay in touch with me on this journey.  This site will cover:

Darwinian Evolution

The Fossil Record

The Cell and DNA

Pioneers of radically incorrect science

The age of the Earth

Intelligent Design

Creation Theory

Mormonism

American History

The 9-11 Attacks

Logic and Reason

and more!

Most of this imformation will shock and alarm you and will most likely counter the information you have learned in school.  I welcome your discontent in that regard and expect a lot of rude, course, and foul comments to be made toward my site and my character.  Those comments are welcome and will be exposed as illogical and emotional.  The comments most beneficial are those aimed not at the man (ad hominem) but those aimed at the science, reason, and factual demonstration.  It is my goal on this site to be accurate- not arrogant (although sometimes that is hard to avoid).

Thanks for joining me and happy surfing!

  1. Pastor Bruce De Soto Says:

Great start Owen on the Home Page. I commend you for your efforts, boldness, and tact both here and at school.

Indeed, why aren’t more Christians “earnestly contending for the faith” (Jude 3)? Are we not to wage war (“contend”) against error and every pretension that sets itself “against the knowledge of God” (2 Cor. 10:5)? Indeed, “earnestly” in Jude means “to do something with intensity and determination,” and boy, Owen you have plenty of this. Yet this website is one way that you can motivate the Brethren to catch Jude’s strong admonition and vision to defend the Christian faith against error because absolute truth (Schaeffer’s “true truth”) does in fact exist, it can stand the test of investigation, and the Church is supposed to bear witness to it (or to Him, cf., Jn. 18:37) and proclaim it to every creature without exception or distinction (2 Cor. 4:2; 13:8). The Christian religion is indeed an objective religion that calls the faithful “to test all things and hold fast to what is true and good” (I Thess. 5:21). But it also calls every Christian to defend “the faith,” i.e., “the totality or body of Christian doctrine” which Jesus Christ and the Apostles “delivered” (“handed on”) to the Christian community, “the Church of the Living God,” which serves Christ’s interests as “the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15). Finally, we defend all the propositional truths in Scripture from Genesis to Revelation because there are countless misguided individuals who claim to know something about truth, yet deny the supernatural (God, special creation, and miracles), objective truth, and moral absolutes. These are the new village atheists or agnostics of the world—they’re staunched materialists who claim nothing exists except atoms and molecules (no eternal God and no immortal soul– just an eternal universe and a finite earth and a mortal marvelous brain). And then there are the spiritualists who place intuition above faith and reason (that is, subjectivity above objectivity) and creativity above creed. It’s perfectly acceptable for reality to be inconsistent (contradictory) and consistent at the same time and same relationship, cruel and non-cruel, and real and illusionary. To them, all truth revolves around the sovereign individual, how he/she perceives his/her reality, how he/she interprets the text of any given writing (i.e., “reader response theory”), and how he/she chooses to live his/her life and not Jesus Christ and certainly not the Church of Jesus Christ.

Having these two mindsets in the world mean that we red letter Christians have our work cut out for us; the former group represents western humanistic thought of the modern age and the latter group represents the new way of thinking in our postmodern age. Postmodern folks are reacting harshly against some aspects of that cold scientific empiricism of the modern age (rightly so too) which disdained mystery and metaphysics, but nevertheless, postmodern thinkers err in giving too much credence and power to autonomous man and to subjectivity itself.

Thus, stay focused on what particular presuppositions, propositions, and philosophies that we are waging spiritual war against (both inside and outside the Church), yet always remembering that we wrestle not against “flesh and blood” (human beings), but against the evil one who is behind all the deception that goes on in this God forsaken world and is keeping most of humanity “under his captivity” (2 Tim. 2:26) in the darkness from seeing “the light of the glorious gospel” of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:4). Owen, continue to “keep the faith” and “fight the good fight” with God’s Word and reason (with the latter subservient to the former) and applying them accordingly with truth, tact, tenderness, and tenacity—as Jesus and Jude (His brother) did so well.

    God bless, Pastor De Soto

    Well said Bruce

    • Bruce Says:

Dear Tyler, Owen is so fortunate to have you associated with this new apologetic outreach which is equipping serious Christians to think more biblically, tactfully, and faithfully to build up their faith, and most importantly, to reach their non-Christian family and friends. Indeed, the apologetic method of establishing trust, finding common ground, and presenting the sound case for Christ, the gospel, or the Bible is another way of echoing Paul’s mandate to the Corinthians to “become all things to all men in order to win some over to Jesus Christ.” We can’t win them “all,” but “some” we can and “some” we must. Further, knowing “why” and “what” we believe allow us to focus on what is truly essential from that which is very much non-essential or irrelevant to the apologetic/evangelistic task. As Jesus taught when approaching ministry, let us be “wise as serpents and gentle as doves” (Matt. 10:16) and not “dumb as donkeys and arrogant as camels.” These days the latter seems to fit the image of too may Evangelicals. Yet, you’re doing something of course to correct this stereotype– God bless you both. Thanks for your response, Pastor Bruce

  9. porphyryredux Says:

According to apostle Paul, Christianity and Christians constitute nothing if Jesus did not rise from the dead (1st Corinthians 15:14). I started my own blog in which I discuss Papias and the logia, whether first-hand and second-hand resurrection testimony in Matthew and John can be identifiably distinguished, and, of course, divine atrocities. https://porphyryredux.wordpress.com/
    Good day.
